The Community Centre is Big River’s largest and most diverse venue. With space available to accommodate both large and small groups, the Community Centre is the ideal location for recreational programming and private events.
Construction of the Community Centre was completed in 2005 and was made possible by the donations and fundraising efforts of the Community of Big River. The building, which is connected to the Big River Arena, currently houses the Municipal Offices, Recreation & Cultural Board Office, Community Gym, and Library.
Tours of the Community Centre facilities can be scheduled with the Recreation Office at any time during office hours. Tours will not be accommodated if rental groups are utilizing the facility.
The Main Hall boasts a large space with soaring ceilings able to comfortably seat 350 people in a round-table setting, making it ideal for weddings, trade shows, speaker engagements, fundraisers, and more. The hall has a large foyer, coat room, bar, and stage area with a sound system and projector available for use.
The Main Hall floor area can be divided by a folding divider wall, with Small Hall rentals also available.
Use of the foyer is included with all Main Hall rentals; however, the space is also available to rent on its own. The high ceilings and open concept of the foyer offer a bright, flexible space for your small event.
Our Boardroom rentals offer comfortable leather chairs, Wi-Fi, screen hook-ups, coffee services, and whiteboards, making the boardroom the ideal solution for small business needs.
Our large kitchen is equipped with two gas convection ovens, two standard gas ovens, gas grill, and six-burner gas stove to meet your event and private needs. Our kitchen also features six dish sinks, a vegetable sink, microwave, two upright refrigerators, one upright stove, and three commercial heating trays. Use of all items in the kitchen, including pots, pans, coffee urns, and service ware are included with kitchen rentals.
Our 24/7 Community Gym is a convenient way to meet your fitness needs. Our gym is designed with shower and bathroom facilities, offers free gym shoe storage, and is equipped with cardio and free-weight machines to suit your goals. Tours of the gym can be scheduled with the Recreation Office during office hours.
