Health Care Facilities and Services

The Big River Health Centre is a dedicated primary healthcare facility within the Saskatchewan Health Authority that is committed to providing comprehensive, compassionate, and patient centered care to the residents of Big River and surrounding areas. We are proud to offer primary care and long-term care services to support individuals and families at every stage of life, all in one convenient location.

We do not provide emergency services, in the case of an emergency please call 9-1-1 or go to the Parkland Integrated Health Center in Shellbrook

8:30 AM- 12:00 PM; 1:00 PM- 4:30 PM

 

OUR SERVICES

Primary Care

Our primary care services are led by two full-time Nurse Practitioners who are supported by locum doctors. We offer diagnosis, treatment, chronic disease management, preventative care, prenatal care, and health education to support your needs.

Lab and X-Ray Services

On-site lab services are available including bloodwork, ECG, Holter monitor as well as X-Ray imaging. These services help your care team make informed decisions and reduce the need for travel outside of the community.

Public Health

Our public health nurse is dedicated to promoting wellness through immunizations, health education, maternal and child health programs, and community outreach initiatives.

Home Care

We support clients to maintain independence at home through personalized care plans, nursing services, and assistance with daily living activities.

Long-Term Care

Our home includes 34 long-term care beds and 1 intermediate care bed. We provide a safe and supportive environment for residents to feel at home with a focus on dignity, comfort and quality of life.

Physiotherapy

We also have a locum physiotherapist who is here 1-2 days/ week to support people recovering from injury, manage chronic conditions and improve mobility and strength through personalized treatment plans.

Mental Health and Addictions

We have an addictions counselor as well as a mental health nurse that visit our facility to provide confidential, compassionate support for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. The team works to provide ongoing support to promote wellness, recovery, and resilience.

We are committed to delivering high-quality, respectful care close to home. Our team works collaboratively to ensure that you and your loved ones receive the support that you need, when you need it.

Ambulance services are provided by Big River Ambulance Care Ltd.

The community of Big River also has a group of trained First Responders.
