Big River has developed its recreational programs and facilities into something we are very proud of. We have a spacious multi-use Community Centre that more than accomodates our local events. Our Community Centre In May of 2005 the Town Office, the R.M. Office, the Library and the Recreation Director/Manager Office moved into the beautiful new Community Centre. The Community Centre is connected to the Big River Arena with a breezeway into the Curling Lobby. The centre has a large foyer, coat room, meeting room, and large hall with an impressive stage area complete with dressing room, a bathroom and steps on each side of the stage. We now have a complete computer compatible audio/visual system with a large screen, full sound system, projector, and cable TV. We are ideal for small lecture situations, or larger conferences.
For smaller groups there is a smaller meeting area, which is separated from the main auditorium by a folding divider wall. There is a very large kitchen with six dish sinks, a vegetable sink, convection ovens, gas grill/oven with six burners and two ovens. There is an upright freezer and two coolers.
Our facility has a designated fitness room with two showers, a shared bathroom with the kitchen. Funding for equipment is ongoing as we complete this area. We have held many functions in the new centre and are very proud of this facility. For booking information please call 469 2606.
